Nutrition Education & SNAP-Ed

*** WE ARE TAKING STEPS TO PROTECT EVERYONE’S HEALTH AND SAFETY. *** If you have an appointment with one of our offices but are experiencing these symptoms– fever, cough, shortness of breath– please call (207) 992-4530 to reschedule your appointment or receive services over the phone. ALSO, it is very important to call your doctor’s office. They will decide the next steps you should take. If you do not have a doctor, please call an emergency department.

Bangor Public Health and Community Services partners with University of New England’s Public Health Program and Maine Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) to hold a variety of nutrition education programs in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties.

Our classes are fun and free, and provide participants with real tips and tricks that can help you stretch your food budget and feed your family healthier options.

We offer classes for youth, adults, seniors, and families throughout our communities.

Youth programs are held at Headstart programs, and in schools and child care centers in which 50% or more of students receive free/reduced lunch. Adult programs may take place at senior living facilities, food pantries, Eastern Area Agency on Aging Community Cafes, etc.
